Yesterday we held our annual "Think Pink" game to honor and raise awareness for breast cancer in our community and across the nation. Our guest coach for the game was a breast cancer survivor who hosts a walk every year to raise money for research. (You can visit her website to find out more info at http://www.ethelbreastcancerwalk.org/) She spoke to our team before the game and her message was that if you believe something it can happen! That is so true in athletics and in our lives. I found this website that shares stories of women overcoming the odds to beat breast cancer and become a survivor. The stories are amazing, I can't stop reading them. It gives us all hope in all situations!
Personally, breast cancer has a history in my family with my grandmother and my aunt both having it, but they both beat the odds and have been in remission for 10 plus years. As you watch all of the Think Pink games across the country this weekend remember to pray for all of the women and families who are not as fortunate and could not beat the disease.
